28 Oct Garden Landscaping and Irrigation
You all know Rosewood as a garden irrigation design and installation company, rather than a landscaping contractor. However, we use similar machinery and equipment, and have considerable expertise in the areas of turfing, hedging and the like. For this reason, customers sometimes call on us to carry out landscaping work. This often happens where jobs involve garden landscaping and irrigation works carried out at the same time. However, in a few cases, we even work on landscaping jobs where irrigation isn’t involved. We have the diggers, the trenchers, and the turfcutters, and our engineers are extremely capable in this kind of work too.
A recent job in St Albans
Here’s a set of pictures from a recent job in St Albans. The client asked Rosewood to clear the site, which was very uneven. We planned to create a level garden so that a flat lawn area became possible. The customer also wanted us to add fencing and hedging along the front edge of the garden, which bordered public pavement.
We used the digger to take out the uneven ground, creating a nice flat surface of topsoil. Turf would be added here to extend the lawn. You can see pictures of turf squares being laid neatly in position. These follow the string we put in place to mark the edge of where we were going to make the boundary fence and hedging.
Once the turf was in place, we dug a trench along the whole length of the front edge of the garden, ready for the fencing and for planting the hedge plants. A simple wire fencing was used to allow the shrubs to grow through, making the hedge visible from within the property as well as from the pavement. We added the hedging once we had installed the fence, transforming the look of the garden.
After that, we tackled the one remaining task, adding turf to the remaining bare ground. This will take some time to get established, but soon the whole lawn will look great. We’ll install irrigation at a later point, but for now, the client has a much-improved garden. You can already see what will become a beautiful flat lawn, and how neat edging is now visible where it meets the driveway. The front edge of the garden looks great, we’re sure you’ll agree. And the hedging doesn’t just improve privacy: it also adds some attractive planting.
